There was a wise man
And there was a fool
Tryin’ to learn a golden rule
Tryin’ to be wiser
Wiser than before
So, wise, the fool is no one’s fool
And so the wise man
Said to the fool

I got somethin’ to teach
Sometimes in life
You can go a step too far
Sometimes wise
To not over-reach
Well I got somethin’ to tell ya’
Said the wise man to the fool
Life can be quite beautiful
But it can also be quite cruel
Gotta’ get your hands dirty
If you want to find the jewel
No – nothin’ in life comes easy
Said the wise man to the fool
And so, the wise man
Taught the fool
Taught him everythin’ he knows
The fool got wiser
Wiser than before
Can’t call him a fool no more
And so the wise one
Found another fool
Said hear me
I got somethin’ to teach
We can all be wiser
Wiser than our years
If with wisdom
We go preach
Well I got somethin’ to tell ya’
